Director/Senior Director, Head of Proteomics

Within every human cell, nature has engineered finely tuned control mechanisms to correct imbalances caused by stress and disease and promote healing. At HotSpot Therapeutics, nature is inspiring us to create a wave of new medicines. Through a proprietary technology platform, we are uncovering privileged allosteric sites used by nature to control proteins - called natural hotspots- that can be exploited through small molecule drug discovery. Natural hotspots are allowing sought-after targets to be drugged for the first time while delivering molecules with exquisite selectivity and attractive drug-like properties. HotSpot is supported by a syndicate of leading healthcare investors based in the US and Europe. You will be joining a seasoned team of drug hunters with an excellent track record in drug discovery. As a HotSpotter, you are comfortable thinking outside the box and breaking convention. You are curious about the world and contribute beyond your precise role description. You are action oriented and extraordinary at getting things done. You communicate openly with your colleagues, and you hate office politics. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Mass Spectrometrist, focused on Proteomics to lead a team at Hotspot Therapeutics. The successful candidate will lead the proteomics and mass spectrometry efforts in our drug discovery team to impact the discovery of novel medicines in oncology and inflammatory diseases. The primary responsibilities are the development of proteomic workflows, generation and analysis of data and expansion of the mass spectrometry platform to include HDX, covalent binding analysis and biochemical assay readouts. The role will include working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of biophysics, cell biology, and medicinal chemistry scientists to drive the identification and optimization of allosteric inhibitors, their mechanism of action, and chemo-proteomics. Key
Responsibilities:
The Director/Senior Director, Proteomics will be responsible for leading a small team of talented scientists (both internal and external) in the deployment of mass spectrometry to advance HotSpot's discovery and development of novel allosteric therapeutics. The successful candidate will have experience in the use of mass spectrometry to drive pharmaceutical research, with an initial focus on proteomics. The Director/Sr. Director will play a key leadership role in the development and buildout of a proteomics platform for efficient data generation and utilization for drug discovery and development. This position requires the ability to collaborate closely with chemists and biologists, as well as being able to design efficient and effective MS based approaches to cellular proteomics, balancing throughput with proteomic depth.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement a quantitative proteomics platform capable of multiplexed whole proteome and targeted mass spectrometry studies, to assist in all areas of drug discovery and development within HotSpot. Advise project leaders regarding the application of MS to drug discovery and development, leveraging high-throughput quantitative proteomics methodologies and both LC and MALDI based MS/MS technologies Innovate to expand MS applications beyond identification of changes in protein concentrations and covalent binding detection with treatments Represent the MS technology group within the company and contribute strategic input to company scientific direction. Represent company externally, communicating platform capabilities and differentiation to collaborators and investors Provide mentorship and support to other teams, as a technical expert and broad contributor Requirements:
PhD in proteomics, biochemistry, molecular/cellular biology, or a related field 10
